is it saphire??

Hei huys,

I found out irradiation of topaz started from 1950's. I am offered this ring which Im not sure to invest in since I am afraid it might turn out to be a topaz. This ring is from 1956 as it is claimed. The problem is that I dont have it with me. The seller is again from another city and doesnt know what gem is it. So does it look like saphire for you guys?

I am sorry but that stone could be anything:
1. Could be natural, could be synthetic.
2. If natural, could be any gem type or species - impossible to ID by photo
3. No idea whether it is irradiated, heated, coated, etc and impossible to tell by photo
