Hello PS friends!
I am helping a friend of mine find a great upgrade ring. :appl:

Her wants:
Great cut, as close to 1.5c as possible, eye-clean, near-colorless (she's not sure re: color so she's being sent on a learn-at-tiffanys adventure)
4 or 6 prong bling-ish solitaire, milgrain edges

Budget: 10-12k out the door, less if possible

Hoping you guys can help suggest some settings to show her as well as some great-value stones. She know she will need to make trade-offs for this project but hoping some expert advice will help her find something most fabulous.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Help me find great value round in blingy milgrain settin

She like these settings, but wants to find something a little more affordable:

Who makes something like this? I've looked at the usual suspects and don't (yet) find anything that seems like a good alternative.

Okay. But the 1.5 center stone size is going to be a problem with your budget unless she likes H-I color. I urge you to tell her to focus on H-I color stones if she wants the 1.5 carats, and even that is going to be rare (though I found one below). Or if she is okay with a 1.25 then G-H color range.

Here is the setting you should consider. I am ONLY POSTING THIS SITE FOR YOU FOR PRICING AND DESIGN. I do not recommend you buy through them. Buy the setting through Pearlman's Jewelers or Good Old Gold Jewelers. Okay?

They both carry Beverly K. And Beverly K has great quality and the pricing is great too.

So let's assume 1800 for the setting. They can order it for any sized center stone but there will be an upcharge, normally for a stone larger than 1 carat.

Then a stone like this would be a GREAT choice:

I'd put that one on hold NOW. Seriously. I can't find anything else as nice. It will take them 5 business days to get you an idealscope image and in that time your lady can go to Tiffany.

If you want G color, this one might be okay if the idealscope comes back good. It's in the maybe range of the HCA it's 2.3, so it could happen: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-372754

Ask if eyeclean, get an idealscope: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.35-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-282329

Another nice stone, but in the 1.3 range: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.33-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-374067

And another: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.38-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-364699

And another: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-365603 And this one saves you a ton of money. So you could get one of the settings she chose.
