Yes it is a recently-cut stone with chunky facets. It was one of BE's Royal Chandelier Cushion Brilliants (which as I understand is not technically a brand per se but there are certain criteria that the stones have to meet).

Ooooh, I love the way the milgrain peaks out from underneath the diamond! Almost like a halo effect, but without additional diamonds competing with that beautiful center stone. Very elegant!
