Best earrings for babies?

Hi All,

My friend is having a 1 st birthday party for her daughter. She recently had her ears pierced and I thought it would be cute to get her some small earrings . She has a nickel allergy so it would have to be 14 K yellow gold or platinum. My budget is about $125. Can I choose earrings with a small dangle or should it be studs? Are screw backings ok? Any suggestions would be really helpful!
Thanks!

I would only do studs. I hesitate to pierce my girls ears until they are much older due to the risk of the lobe tearing. My niece was staying with us when she was 9 or 10 and her ear lobe tore due to wearing cheap dangly earrings. Took her to the pediatrician who said she sees this all the time. Referred her to a plastic surgeon to repair the ear. It wasn't a terrible experience (although my niece is quite dramatic) but it's one I don't want to repeat any time soon.

blue nile has some, both of these styles come in gold or silver. You could get one in gold one in silver? I don't like baby earrings but if i did id have her wear one heart in one ear one bow tie in another...different colors. and they are having a valentines sale

The blue Nile heart earrings are very cute. My friend is more matchy matchy so I think she would prefer just one design for both ears. There are two other butterfly designs I am considering. Both are in the same price point as the hearts. Any preferences?

You could make an offer on these

Too bad these are way over budget since they would be amazing for a little girl!

The butterfly ones are cute too but keep in mind the size of them for catching on things. Not sure they stick out a lot or not but my hair gets caught in earrings all the time and it annoys the crap out of me.

I love these though because they have flat backs.

The backs on these are perfect for a baby. I really like them. Wish they came in adult size because I love the flat backs. I also prefer la pousette type backs.

Never buy or use threaded screw type posts for children. It creates a constant drilling motion into the delicate ear tissue.

Yep, for a baby, I'd not do screw-back posts...little ears are very delicate!

My vote is also for the second butterflies...those are super cute! And I definitely agree with the other posters to avoid any type of dangly earrings.
