Can anyone help me on this forum? I am very interested in a stone called Morgansite and I'm looking into buying some of these stones.
I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between the ones from California and the ones that are from Brazil? Also, what if any is the difference? Thanks to any and all that can help me with this matter. Oh I am looking for the pink Shaded color Morgansites.
Thanks!

I do not know how fussy you are about treatment but some morganites have been heat treated to improve the colour and some are oiled (without disclosure) to improve clarity. Do not worry too much about the origin, buy the stone and not the name.

I would echo Chrono and look for one with the colour that you want and NOT location. Morganite is pretty easy to get hold of but, as I think you're aware from your post, the majority is peachy coloured and the pinker ones are slightly more difficult to find (in a cut, size, colour etc) that you might want. I wouldn't worry about heat treatment as this is common and most Morganite is heated to bring out the colour - so it's an accepted treatment for this stone. In terms of oiling, I wasn't aware that this was done also but as it's from the Beryl family I'm not surprised.

As Morganite is part of the Beryl family (think Emerald, Aquamarine, Goshenite etc) it's not the toughest gemstone in the world and so probably isn't suitable for every day wear. The pink variety also looks very much like Kunzite and, I believe can also fade in the same way that some pieces of Kunzite can.

There are a number of places to buy Kunzite but try (in no particular order):-

Happy hunting!
