I have absolutely no interest in the Olympics EXCEPT for one event which I only discovered 4 years ago while having a nibble at Café Cruz in Capitola during the last Olympics [sports TV was on]. and then I saw this foreign film at a film festival: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1703824/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I love Love LOVE this sport: curling!

I watch Curling pretty regularly. I love it. But being Canadian, we get it on up here all the time.

But then again I love watching all of the Olympic sports. Biathalon and Speed Skating are my other top choices, but these olympics I plan on trying to watch at least one round of every sport.

We actually really enjoyed the downhill skiing last night - it's just crazy that they are doing 84 mph like that! Went to bed before the figure skating though (we have only basic cable, so we have to watch everything during the 8 pm feature).

Did anyone just see the ladies figure skating? The 15 year old from Russia BLEW. MY. MIND. Absolutely amazing! I wonder how she'll hold up against the former gold medalist from 2010 in the individual competition?

Yes, I watched figure skating last night & saw the 15 year old. She was amazing...incredible balance!

We've watched snowboarding, some skiing, and figure skating so far.

I haven't ever watched curling -- I guess there must be more to it than my impression; it seems about as exciting as watching x-country skiing (more fun to do than to see) or paint drying.

Love the figure skating, also downhill -- agree about the speeds they make! -- and ski jumping. I've always been a coward & would never dare do it, but ski-jumping looks like SO much fun.

Oh, me too! I couldn't take my eyes off that necklace!! It looked great on him. I'm enjoying his and Tara Lipinski's commentary on skating. I especially appreciate that they don't talk constantly!!

I don't know who they have covering the nordic skiing, but he needs to take it down a bit. I have to mute the sound!

I'm starting to enjoy the curling also! I watched most of the US/Switzerland women's match and I think I'll have to google a few of the terms.

Same, but I caught Great Britain vs. Sweden. Checked out Wikipedia and learned a lot today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curling

Ahahhaa my husband's disdain for that necklace is hilarious. Every time he saw it he went, "Johnny Weir probably made that himself, didn't he? There's nothing else that could explain why he's willing to wear it in public." I thought it looked good and was the perfect accent for his outfit.

There's a pic here in case you missed it:

Also check out the ring with the second outfit!

The biathlon is pretty interesting. I could do without the commentator yelling.

My husband is obsessed with biathlon and it's amusing to me that the commentators are basically screaming their heads off the entire time.

Ski jumping scares me - even just watching it causes my stomach to drop in a terrifying way.

I've tried curling a couple of times - it's tricky throwing the rocks and sweeping is very tiring. My arms were sore for the next couple of days! So I have much respect for the sport. I hope the Dutch team wear the funky pants again!

The Russian pair's short program was stupendous. If they do anywhere near as well in the long program, a gold medal is well deserved! What a pleasure to watch them skate.

I've been watching and enjoying all of it.

Men's Snowboarding Slope Style was, OMG!!! It was the first event of the games, and Sage Kotsenburg of the USA won the gold. However, Canada's Mark McMorris gets my vote for sexiest olympian.

the women's swiss curling team was sporting diamond earrings that were pricescope worthy.....also, Lawes on the Canadian women's curling team also had some diamond earrings that were gorgeous. not to mention the rings.........I wonder if they are personal possessions or some smart jeweler loaned them out!

The ice dancing was so much fun to watch. Johnny Weir is imo the BEST commentator they've ever had. He explains things succinctly & often enough that you see points you wouldn't have known to look for, which makes it tons more enjoyable. He's also straightforward about who's good & who isn't, and why. Really intelligent guy, obviously.

Scotty Hamilton, who was one of the most talented & skilled skaters in history, drives me crazy as a commentator -- he is so nice, he said once that it's hard for him to criticize skaters who are his friends. But that's what good analysis demands. I hope they use Johnny Weir all the time!

Elena Ilinykh, of the bronze-medal Russian ice dancers, wore a nice piece of bling during their long program. I stopped the picture to get a better look. It was a diamond & something green bypass ring in YG. Could have been an emerald, but the stones were both round & you don't see round emeralds often. Maybe a tsavorite or a tourmaline; it was too blue-green for a demantoid, which would be fitting in Russia. Anyway, I wanted it!

I'm usually excited but with all the LGBT backlash, not so great. To make matters even worse, they're killing off thousands of stray dogs instead of building a shelter for them like they promised a year ago. They're not doing it humanely either. They are just going around beating them, stabbing them and poisoning them.

So, no. I won't be watching the Olympics this year. Very angry and disappointed.

This - exactly
