Last deer photos (for now).

They were starting to make goofy faces at me; probably to get me to stop with the picture taking.

Will you forgive me for posting two more deer photos?
For those of you who aren't familiar with White-Tailed Deer, you'll see where they get their name.

The deer photos I posted above were from last Wednesday, March 23.

These two photos were taken two days ago, March 29.
I didn't go out until 7:00 p.m. (sunset was around 7:30 p.m.) and I didn't expect to see anything.
However, I figured I could use the practice trying to take photos in low light situations, even if I just took photos of trees.

I saw 11 deer all in one spot! :o

Nature, like life, can be unpredictable. :))

This isn't one I took but thought I would share, it happened to a club member from my father's club. I have no idea why it happened but an Orca ate their lure and they got this shot. Most people would try break their line immediately however they fought the Orca to get close enough to pull the leader and get the hook out so it wouldn't have fishing line trailing behind it. The Orca was unharmed, if not a little bewildered as to what had just happened. Never heard of or seen this before!

Where were they fishing? Was there a fish hooked or it just went after the lure?

Still trying to find out more but not far from Sydney. Went after a lure apparently which I have never heard of, I've seen sea mammals swim around our spread of lures before but never try to eat one.

Ahh. I found an article about one getting hooked during a tuna tournament off New Zealand but they said the whale jumped on that lure getting caught, didn't swallow it: http://www.petethomasoutdoors.com/2012/02/angler-battles-killer-whale-on-new-zealand-fishing-trip-.html

We've had incidents of them stealing fish off a line, but never going after a lure that I've heard of yet! Crazy.

Jordy, that's incredible! :o

After dealing with the situation, I imagine there must have been a lot of head-shaking and 'Did that really just happen?!?!'.

And back on shore a lot of stories of 'the big one that got away'.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Canada Geese acting up.
The last photo shows the first goose getting bit.
I think it may be the time of year; I often see a goose being protective of his mate (i.e., being aggressive towards others).

On a lighter note, here we have two Canada Geese flying in sync, as if one, graceful and picturesque.

The landing needs a bit of work.

Gazing at diamonds

Or is it just the sun reflecting off the ice-covered lake?

To quote Kenny (sort of), the interpretation of a photo varies amongst the viewers.

I see diamonds! :appl:

As the big game fish season goes on the fish travel down the coast further and some of the big boats that can't be trailered follow the fish down the coast. A lot of the time the guys are too busy to take their boats down so they will pay people like my father ot myself to take their half million dollar rigs out to sea and trek down the coast to their new marina location. Dad is doing it for someone at the moment and sent me this pic, he's got one more day left to go.

It's a hard life sometimes...

White-breasted Nuthatch

The trails tend to be shades of brown this time of year.
This little guy added a bright spot and a bit of colour to the scene.
