I visited H. Moradi last week with my DH. I called ahead and let them know when I was coming and what I was particularly interested in (OECs and quality estate jewels). We drove over on Monday from our hotel in Carlsbad. Left at 9 am and got to La Jolla around 9:40 and there was 0 parking available. I later learned that "La Jolla" is the name of the local native american tribe and it means "You Will Never Ever Find a Parking Place So Go Home Right Now." :cheeky:

We lucked into a Paid Parking garage and headed up Prospect Street to the shops. H. Moradi is two store fronts, across the Prospect Street from each other. One is very small, the other is small. The DH said the Persian rugs were pretty, I did not notice them because I was zeroed in on the display cases.

It didn't matter that I called ahead. They were not expecting me and they had no OECs ready to show me. I had to specifically point to OECs in the window and case to ask to see and try them on. There were several employees available who were mostly kind of apathetic. They were polite, just kind of removed? My husband was not comfortable there and that is a major problem when we go to shop for jewelry with our spouses. They had two cases of 'sale' items ("Up To 70% Off" and "Up to 40% Off"). They said they had all their inventory out on display when I was asking (for the OECs) and this does not match up to what is in their Ebay shop, but ok, whatever.

So we visited both shops and I left without buying anything. The best part of the visit was walking across Prospect Street to have lunch on the open air terrace at George's On The Cove.

Here come the pics. Its going to take me awhile because I have quite a few to download from my phone to my PC then here to PS.

If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer.

More of display window.

No idea why these are loading sideways, I apologize.

Large OEC in window display.

EC for my buddies who love them!

More EC love.

LOL, this ring is The Big Kahuna of Filigree  I have long fingers and if it had been sized it would have made a big pointer finger statement ring for me. They should have tried to sell it to me, I might have pulled the trigger!!

This ring was prettier in person than it photographs but not my style.

Here is an OEC, finally  Its a little under 5 ct, I believe. I was surprised to see all the blue in this pic. I didn't see that under the shop lights. It was very lively, lots of scint of pastel colors. I liked the crown-style setting. Side shot of basket up next.

Crown basket.

Smaller OEC, less attractive setting (for me).

Side shot of smaller OEC, more ornate basket and band.

Black opal with diamond halo of trilliants/rounds. Big impact in person.

Okay, a little palate cleanser here, Some jewels look better IRL. This jewel looks WORSE IRL! Its truly awful.

Navette ring, jet and diamonds.

Ruby and diamond band. This one fit me but I already have that ruby and diamond eternity from Oliver Smith Jewelers and I love it. The price on this ring started at 5K (2 ct diamonds H, 1 ct rubies) and was offered to me at 3k. Not a bad deal at 3k, would have been even better under 3k.

This ring was from one of the two Sale cases and it was a legitimate 'deal.' Its not my style in the setting but its pretty IRL and if someone liked a dome or bombe-style ring and liked the aqua and tourm, this would have been a score.

I learned something about what I like in trying on this ring---I like me some cluster navette!! Who knew?! This ring was very white and extremely sparkly and lively. You'd notice it from across a room. I would have bought this had there been interest that I could see on the shop's end.

HI:

LOL at your commentary!

Loved the opal and ruby band!! That marquise ring could be a bracelet!!

cheers--Sharon

Rose Quartz, this stone was lovely in person, glow-y and perfect in every way. Doesn't photograph well. The setting was pretty, I liked the diamond vines.

Second shot, stone looks better.

Sapph/diamond eternity band. It did not feel 'pointy.'

Okay, here's a Real Housewives type doorknocker! Citrine and diamonds.

Great pictures - thank you for posting them :appl:

Side shot of the basket.

Also, this ring is enormous including the center stone. Unusual in that the stone had no window. Well cut and set in that aspect.

Not my taste but here it is.

I think this necklace of fancy cuts and briolettes would really pop on the neck/chest.

20160912_112348.jpg

Here is a necklace of mixed cuts. It didn't grab me but I did like that the chain was completely embellished with small mixed cuts, that was cool.

You can see the small mixed cuts that make up the 'chain.'

An old band. Not a lot of oomph IRL.

LOL, I have to post the fire shot!
