I’m diving off into beginning a small collection of versatile vintage gold link necklaces and bracelets.

I’d like opinions on mixing metal colors. I’m admiring this for my first piece, it’s 9kt rose gold, 63 grams so should be a nice hefty piece.

Thoughts, would you mix this with other shades of gold?

It’s beautiful! I love that warm shade of gold. Will you be wearing it by itself, with pendants, or both?

Edit to answer the question: I think it really depends on the shape and texture of the chains you’re thinking of mixing with it. I mix colors and textures often.

This is super cool! Couldn’t tell you about mixing metals but would love to see what you come up with.

I’m not one to layer several necklaces so mostly it’d be alone or with a pendant.
I would love the option of layering though. I’ve developed a desire for more gold in my life.

I’d also like to see items that you happen to come across on IG, Etsy, Ruby Lane or EBay.

I have a serious addiction to rose gold mixed with oxidised silver - especially with vintage chains, the look is surprising and satisfying. Your first pick for that rose gold chain is stunning. I can't wait to see your collection!

Thanks for the words!

The chain looks beautiful! I hope some with experience will chime in here. I have a reproduction project based on an antique stick pin in the works and have the same question about mixing colors.

I’d like to know your thoughts on 9k gold in general, it looks like that it was used a lot in vintage designs.

I have two vintage 9K chains and I love them both. They don’t look like low-karat gold and they’re more affordable.

Here’s a mix of chains. The one with the arrow is 9K, vintage with hollow links. The finer one was probably from the ‘90s and is 14K. B13C8250-169E-4782-80EE-651844D695D6.jpeg

This one’s a possible repro Belcher in 15K, worn with the 14K chain from the ‘90s:

Platinum DBTY, 14K yellow, and 14K rose all at once:

Your necklaces are fantastic!!

I recently caught the antique chain bug looking for a chain for a large custom pendant.

But then I also saw this one and couldn’t resist. 10k white gold

Hehe. Feel free to post links so we can talk you into them!

Luckily most are out of my price range for mad money buys.

It arrived!
I love that the clasps on both ends means I can attach whatever charm I want.

I’m looking for something similar for a pendant I got I need 15 inch and it’s so hard to find. That’s not super expensive

Yeah 15 inches is tough. Most chains come in either 14 or 16”. This one is actually just shy of 14” (I have a small neck lol) but was not expensive, under 250$ which wasn’t bad in my opinion considering the details and having the dog clasp at the end I was looking for. I got lucky though for sure.

This one is too short at 13” but maybe you could have a jeweler add a 2 inch extension to it? You can get 15% off using the code welcome15. I actually almost bought this but decided on white gold instead cause I like to mix up my metals :)

Or have this one shortened. It’s pricier though

I need help with a chain that would Compliment my pendant, she’s a Victorian conversion hummingbird. I thought I posted here but I posted in a different place by accident, I don’t not know how to delete it. Anyways here she is, she weighs 6 g so she’s heavy but small the other picture is a girl from Instagram with an old watch chain I didn’t know if it would look good.FA5C5E39-F2A5-4EE4-B85C-25D2AC8D2DA2.jpegC6BF07E5-484E-4F7D-83AC-B0EA315B21B9.jpeg3E080EF3-A5C4-46A4-BDA6-89AAD2BABE79.jpeg

Do I do a thicker short chain, long thick, thin and short? She pulls down since she’s heavy

I found this 10k on eBay for a good price, I really like it! I probably still need a thicker chain42ECFEFA-9563-4110-B1F5-05A989C92932.jpeg
