Just a quick pic of some of my new jewellery. A bunch of opals, akoya drops, tanzanite bezel drops, and a Tahitian pearl.

Thanks, LLJSmom! I think the double opal drops and matching pendant might be a bit much for daytime - to be honest, I haven't worn them all that much yet as there are a lot of colours they don't go with. I tend to wear them with black or navy to show them off.

Thanks everyone! I tried to get ear shots, April, but they all came out blurred. My camera seems to have times where it just blurs everything. I'm not the best photographer. I got one or two other shots, though.

The best part is that none of them were very expensive. The Tahitian was only $99, the tanzanite 14k drops were $195 reduced from $295 at Blue Nile, the pear opal halos were 245 pounds in the jewellery quarter at home, and the triple opal pendant was 165 pounds in the same place. So I feel as if I got quite a bit for my money. I've ordered a bezel DBTY-style mixed-gemstone 14k bracelet as well, just for a change, which will be here next week. Blue Nile, only $135.

Thanks, SMC and Dandi! Dandi, my pieces are smaller now as I'm coming to the end of my current bling budget. I'm finding quite a few lovely pieces at lower price points lately. The opal double drops were only just over a hundred pounds, I think. (I got them in May 2013 but posted them here as they match the pendant.) It's nice to know that pretty fine jewellery (as opposed to costume) doesn't always have to cost a lot.

Circe, I can't believe you said that - these earrings so remind me of you!! A soon as I saw them in England I thought, "Circe will like those!" and so I think I'm going to call them my Circe earrings!

They're not vintage, I'm sorry to say, but they do have that kind of look!

I so wish I could show you round the jewellery quarter at home (The Lanes, Brighton)and introduce you to a couple of jewellers I know there. A hundred or so shops in little alleyways, all sparkling with antique jewellery. You'd be in heaven!

That's true-opals are so difficult to photograph. I have a black opal ring and no matter how I have tried in the past to capture the beauty of this ring no picture has ever come close. The colors are impossible to capture on (phone at least) camera!
