I''m posting this question again.

I''m in Canada and our grader Gemscan does not provide any measurements or % on their certificate. I''m interested in people''s opinions.

Would it really matter if I went to a chain and asked for a f vvs2 3/4C emerald were I can trade my old set vs a diamond dealer?

Or should I assume that the dealer is the specialist?

No measurements? No length-width-depth and table? These are critical to help to identify the stone as the one described on the report.

I'm not exactly sure about your question... but you might want to do a search here on gemscan.

In my humble opinion, I would not buy without getting full info - you don't know what you are paying for since cut is the most important C. If you need to buy from a local jeweler try the following:

- check the tutorial and search the forum for info on what makes a good emerald cut.

- Maybe you can specifically ask for the "diamond grading report" if they are just showing the wallet card. I see that it provides table and pavilion angles and %.

Hi, just to follow up in case this information is helpful to someone else.

I sent an email asking if they did provide the specs on the stone and this is what they said " Yes. The information you are looking for is included on a detailed grading report. This can only be produced for a loose stone. Please call the office at 1-877-868-6656 or 416-868-6656 for more information.

Best regards,
Gem Scan International Inc.

Thanks Dazzle 5 for showing me a certificate and I apologize for misinforming everyone. Just goes to show that you can't always be accurate with internet info. Buying diamonds in Canada seems to be so difficult. I hate that all our prices are marked up !
