No good news yet, just trying to decide still... I guess it's just really hard to bite the bullet (is that the expression)? I saw another PSers post where they said they thought they found the one but it was hard to commit and just buy it... I think that is what is happening to me... I'm scared I'll pick the wrong one :/

So JA's reply was odd. I gave the first rep all the info and the link and they said they would check... then I got an email from a different rep who said good news we already make that setting and gave me the link to the standard tapered baguette ring they have on the site... I was confused, didn't the first rep tell the second rep all my info? Anyway, so I sent the second rep all the same info and link again and she had to check as well... when I got an email back she didn't answer all my questions and said they can modify the band to 2mm and rounded for an extra $150. The whole thing didn't instil a lot of confidence :/

Also, got sized at a fine jeweller, we decided on M (6 1/4) as I like to wear it a little bit loose but I 'should' be wearing an L 1/2.

I'm also considering going with one of the Ruby Lane options as they were cheaper and they are already made so I can see the settings:

OK. That happened to me once before too. They were like "well we already have this setting that's similar". Email your original rep tell them you are not getting a quote for a custom ring like you ASKED for.
I feel like there's one settings rep there that doesn't know what they are doing,but be persistent. Email your original person with your concerns and don't take that existing setting for an answer. If the same rep says that ask to be emailed by a supervisor.

I would be blunt ant tell them you knew about that setting and did not like it. You specifically want a replica of the BG setting, with the changes outlined (from my prev post) and do not want to be offered an existing setting .

Don't let one apple spoil the bunch . I'm sorry it left a bad taste in your mouth but I promise you get the right person they are great to work with. Just a shame everyone isn't " the right person".

As dfor second hand, my concern with you is that you're in au. What if its misrepresented, what if you don't like it, what if they want you to pay a payment with certified check only .

I think vintage rings are an excellent idea! I think you'll get more for your money. Always offer lower than what they ask. Be sure there is a return period so you can have the ring appraised.
