thanks!
I had thought my pin might be too 3-D "twisty" to make a pendent until I found that photo.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do with this gold serpent head that came from some piece of Victorian jewelry? It has tiny seed pearls and turquoise and tiny ruby or garnet eyes. It is only 1 1/4 inches long. I've had it for years and it has just been sitting in a drawer.

Thanks to Jimmianne for bringing this thread to my attention! I have a SMTB thread on my new serpentine friend here:

Love all the photos of everyone's serpent jewelry. I've been wanting a serpent piece for quite a while, so I felt very fortunate to have happened upon my new friend randomly this weekend! :)

Bbziggy, I have been thinking about what you could do with your serpent. I like the turquoise and gold and think it would make a very pretty piece.
Have you had any thoughts?
I have seen bangles with a head on one end and a sort of springy part that goes around the wrist - some made from elephant hair : )
but maybe Grace or someone could help with a more sturdy home for your serpent. Here is a reference page from Morning Glory.

HC - your new find is one of my favorite types of snake ring - a single serpent with a sweet expression and a diamond head. :appl:

Thanks Jimmianne! I just looked at reference page. It will help me come up with an idea. Can't wait to see your finished piece!

HegemonyCricket your new serpent ring is lovely!! Enjoy him! :appl:

Oh my god! My snake ring is almost identical, its just got no diamond eyes, and it had a garnet in place of the focal diamond! Where did you get yours?

Hi twin : )
I found it on Etsy.
Where did you get yours?
Do you have any information on it?

I nearly choked on my dinner; I have an identical twin sis IRL, and she also has the same ring! Your 'hello twin :)' killed me.

Our mother bought them for us for our 18th I think, in Tasmania. We're 29 this year. I'll post photos and handshots tomorrow, its the dead of night now :)

well, this is fun!

This would make a very cool barrette!

cheers--Sharon

This is not antique. It is a spinner ring from downtothewiredesign on etsy. He calls it a snake in the grass! I hope it is ok to post here!

Love that snake in the grass - the shapes, metal colors and engraving.

I don't have any serpent jewelry, but I have absolutely admired some of it and have many saved in my wishlists all over the place!

I recently saw a blue enamel snake ring I would just LOVE. Except for the lack of pearls, bbziggy, it would be a decent match to your snakes!

Great items, all of you!

Oops, here's the link to Lang's listing:

I’m so happy this thread was resurrected, I’m waiting to hear back about a snake bracelet. Fingers crossed he calls me today

Glad too this thread is up and running again.

I am still totally in love with my snake ring and wear it almost all the time.
Hope more PSer post photos of their ssssserpents.

Here are two of my favorite Victorian stickpins: gold snakes holding banded agate. One has a tiny OMC diamond in an eye-shaped gold holder set into the front. (The tape measure is in inches, not cm.)

Fabulous! The banded agate is so yummy.

Here's a Victorian or Georgian stickpin that was converted to a ring (before I got it--I would have left it as a pin). The snake embraces a little ruby (it has a little chip) and holds a pearl drop in its mouth. I don't wear it much because it's so delicate; when I do, the pearl tickles my knuckle. Though not unpleasantly. I'm pretty sure it was made before synthetic rubies were invented, so I assume the ruby is natural. It's teeny tiny and brightly fluorescent. Two of the prongs are broken, though it seems pretty tightly wedged in the setting. That's another reason I don't wear it much. I haven't found a jeweler I trust to repair it.

LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did you find that? Did you have it made?

Thank you. I love your ring too! It reminds me of a ring my great Aunt gave me. Unfortunately, I lost it. That's what started my love of snake jewelry.

The ring pictured is an Effy piece. I don't always love the clarity of Effy diamonds, but this ring has mostly VS diamonds. I saw it and had to have it.

OMG! Love this thread!

Husband got me this:
