I originally posted this in Rocky Talk, but didn't get much of a response. Maybe it was in the wrong section?
Hi all! First time poster here! So after much back and forth, my SO and I have decided to purchase a shared prong eternity band from IDJ as my engagement ring (I am so excited about both the pending engagement and the ring that I almost can't stand it!) Anyhow, I'm really leaning towards the 20pt stones, even though I don't necessarily think I'll prefer this size to the 15pt stones on my hand AT FIRST. Basically, I'm worried I'll regret not going bigger later, especially since I have no intention of ever upgrading this particular ring (I'm sentimental like that Plus I ADORE this size on other's hands; I just think it would take some getting used to the sparkles on my own (I've never worn anything that sparkly before!) HOWEVER, I would much rather have slightly smaller stones if it meant no visible inclusions, because seeing spots in my ring would drive me batty (I'm a little OCD . So my question is this: should I go for the 15pt VS quality stones or with IDJ's standard "pricescope quality" melee in 20 pointers? The price difference between these two options is very slight after accounting for the removal of one stone for sizing purposes. I suppose I could always go with the 20pt VS, but I wouldn't want SO to spend the money if the consensus is that it's not worth it (I'm still waiting to hear what the price would be on this version. Poor Luann has been very busy with me! Any opinion/advice on this would be most welcome!!!
Also, does ANYBODY know the approximate height of the 20pt closed basket shared prong eternity from IDJ if it is set as low as possible (a la DandiAndi, Yennyfire, or ArmyWives (sp?)) I've been assured that the 15pt would be less than 2.5mm, and I'm hoping that the 20pt wouldn't be very much deeper (taller?) Does anyone know?
Thank you guys in advance for any help/guidance/support/pics you can offer!!! I have spent WAY too much time on this site over the past 8 or 9 months, but I absolutely LOVE IT!!!
