Show your Spessartite

I love everyone's spessartites! They are all so pretty. I think spess is really a nice specimen
Here is mine, 4.37ct, don't know the origin though..With the right lighting, it can even show more orange than this photo. And of course it glows.

Looks edible!

OTL - its really hard to see the color when held between your fingers like that. Can you take some pics as you usually do - in a gem jar, posed by natural light, in incandescent light, etc. It looks like it has potential to be a very pretty spess - and we really like pretty spessies!

I did have another photo. It is from quite far away though. Will this give a better idea of the color?

Well its hard to tell much, but it sure looks like orangey goodness! I hope you love it!

OTL,
You have such a beautiful hand. Long slim fingers and flawless smooth skin. I'm envious... The last my hand looks anything close to that must be over 30 years ago.

Starzin, that face in the stone is freaky!

Isn't it though! I just wondered if it looked like anyone Arkteia knew

+1. And I'm only 35!

OTL you have the most graceful and beautiful hands with skin that looks almost translucent! If you're not a hand model then you should be!

Oh and the spess is nice too!!!! ;)

Chrono, thanks! You are being too modest!
LD, thanks, I am not, but if I were, just think how many piece of jewelleries will I wear!

Since I just now saw this thread and just picked up my ring this morning, here is mine! Full thread with lots of pics coming later today. I'm in love!

That came out just lovely! Once again, jealous. :p

Thanks:)

I just received my custom spess ring! The stone is 1.28 ct from Brad at The Gem Trader, and I had it set locally with a jeweler near me. The setting is 14k white and yellow gold, size 5. It was hard to capture the brightness and sparkle in photos.
Long story short, earlier this year I had some of my most special jewelry stolen, so I pondered for awhile on how I could replace it. Through lurking in this forum I learned a lot about colored stones and was so excited to select my own stone and go through the steps of a totally custom project. My spess is small, but I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've seen, and it eases some of the heartache from losing some sentimental pieces. Thank you to all the experts here that are so knowledgeable!! I wouldn't have known where to begin without Pricescope.

Love it! I just got mine too and I can't stop staring at it. I love your setting as well. :appl:

And I'm sorry you had your other jewelry stolen. How awful. :angryfire:

Thanks Kelli! Yours is breathtaking!

I just bought this and not seen a stone like this before. The person I purchased it from had no info on it but I loved the color. So I bought it. I believe it is an antique and could use any info. The ring shines so brightly. Love it

Here's my little .63ct. These pictures don't show how very sparkly it is, but it's at the jeweler for repair at the moment so I can't take any hand shots. It's not a huge stone but that bright orange sparkle really does catch your eye from across the room.

I am very new to colored stones, or jewelry of any kind really. Got this one for about $200 on eBay.

Pickiebee, what a lovely ring! I really like the setting, and think it sets off the stone beautifully. :)

This spessarite is from the lovely NKOTB. It is 2.10 carats and was cut by Doug Menadue. It sparkles like crazy in all types of lighting and is one of the cleanest spessartites that I have ever seen.

I am late in this game, but wanted to add my spess too :) It is 2.35 Namibian Spess (have the cert for it) cut by Richard Homer
MINE!!

is this one too light? It has a wonderful sparkle and glow and is clean. It's paired with dioptase. I lost one of the little side spess stones and I am thinking it's going to be hard to replace....

3.36 ct Loliondo spessartite. Nice and bright. I am thinking of a HOW ornate engraved basket in YG double prongs and sapphires on the band! I love orange and blue together but I have not seen it much. I would need to wear not much other jewelry because I know this would stand out! Would love to hear thoughts!

Great thread with gorgeous stones!
I am adding my reddish orange spess: stone from Jim McCormick and setting by David Klass.
