My BGD Blue: Usually this dark in sunglight?

I've heard that diamonds can appear dark in sunlight, but I guess I've never really looked carefully in bright sunlight. Now that Portland finally has a sunny day, I took a look at the 2ct BGD Blue I just ordered in the sunshine and was shocked at how dark it got. I've attached some pics. Is this the normal effect? I had a hard time photographing it, but you can see the drastic change. I will say that it sparkles like crazy in the sun, though, and I like the little bit of blue that comes through, as I hadn't seen that yet.

yes, that is totally normal.

looks like some camera reflection in that pic, but yes, as slg says, is normal
