I'm going to set a 2.6 ct round stone on a 4-prong pave setting for an e-ring. I think the micro prong looks elegant and shows more of the diamond, but I wonder about the strength & security vs the standard 4-prong? I welcome any thoughts or comments on this.

Good Old Gold has 1 photo of the micro prongs. Does anyone else have other photos to share?

Hi Nodomo,
I think you're mixing terms:
"Micropave" refers to a style of setting tiny stones into metal- such as the side diamonds on the ring you linked to.
the center diamond in such a style has a four prong head.

In terms of "small prongs" being more dangerous- that's far to broad a statement to have any real meaning.
If we compare a cast prong that is larger than one made form a hand forged piece of wire- the smaller handmade prong might indeed be stronger, and safer.
