Diamond I decided on http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.548-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104057888042#!prettyPhoto[gallery2]/2/ Here is the setting http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/platinum-thin-french-cut-pave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-item-2018 This is the James allen THIN french cut pave (1.7mm) the one i just linked and they also have a normal (not thin) french cut pave (2.1mm) http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/platinum-0.32ct-french-cut-pave-diamond-engagement-ring--item-1301............. My girlfriend wants a thin dainty ring. Here is a post where the user says she might have rather gone with the bigger one if she could do it again https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-1-5-ct-thin-french-cut-platinum-ering-from-james-allen.180578/ My gf's ring size is 5.5 which should i go with?

I would recommend buying both stone and setting from the same vendor if at ALL possible - that way the vendor takes liability for the whole process and you don't need to worry about insurance on the loose stone for shipping and setting, shipping the stone to a different vendor, outside-stone setting fees (most vendors charge to set stones you buy elsewhere)...

You're looking at a common type of setting - check out BGD's fishtail pave settings. Alternatively if you'd rather buy from JA look at their True Hearts listings, or if you'd like help finding a stone post your desired specs ranges and budget.

Doing it this way I can get engagement ring, wedding ring, and diamond for 3200 total (in platinum). I want a brian gavin or whiteflash diamond. But their settings are twice as much as james allen. I think it will be ok I can get it insured if I need. But the diamond looks good?

If you've contacted JA about setting a stone from another vendor, get insurance for the loose stone and are okay with paying the setting fee, then I think you're good to go. The stone looks great
