Stats: 2.72 ct, med violet in color, 7.7mm x 6.5mm Unheated and Untreated!
Vendor photos to start:

The stone is gorgeous, it's so translucent you can read through it, and the star is very eager to come out! Even in the office building where there isn't a pinpoint light, you still see legs dancing over the star. And in sunlight the star is easily seen, and quite strong. The color isn't as blue as the vendor photos, but rather a more Iris flower violet.

Now, for the onslaught of photos!
These are from my phone.

And some normal camera photos.
There is a small natural (?) near one of the girdles but can be covered with a setting i'd think.

You can see Brad's letters through the sapphire :) It's actually more translucent and easy to read the letter IRL, the camera sees the rutile more easily than the eye.
Give me a "P", give me a "H"...

Perspective shots.
I was concerned it was too small, but I think I'll be alright.

I'm so glad they didn't just heat and facet this stone!

I"m definitely keeping the stone even though it has a natural on the girdle and isn't quuuuite as bluish as I was hoping.
It's a magical gem, but that means I'm under a lot of pressure for an equally magical setting! Eek!

Wow, MTG, that baby is amazing. As in for the first time I think I'm finally getting a clue about what all the fuss is about with a star sapphire. Wow, wow, wow. Thank you. And wow.

(Obviously my stunned brain needs a thesaurus.)

Thanks! I don't know if an oval shape would be condusive with that setting.
I was also thinking of a prong iolani setting like my blue spinel. Its really delicate while still amping finger coverage.

But I'm still looking for ideas! This will be my first cab piece so I don't really know what I'm doing.

I personally love the star sapphires in a James Meyer setting. I think that could be gorgeous!

Looks like it is worth every dollar you paid. So what if it isn't a highly saturated violet? The body colour is still pleasant, the star is quite strong and when the star isn't showing, the translucency is excellent.

I really like the photo where you can see all the little dots of silk that make up the star.

Ah...if only I could afford James Meyer...
But also, i'm not a huge fan of platinum, I'm a traditional gold gal.

If you bezel, you could try JanishJewels. I have a ruby cab going to her soon, and she's done wonderful stuff for people on here.

Thanks Arcadian! Have you seen her bezels in person, are they good quality? Do you think they could be delicate enough for a stone this small? most of her pieces seem to have larger stones.

Thanks Chrono! So glad you like it!
The color isn't highly saturated, but it's magical in a misty, ephemeral, twilight kind of way.
