I am looking at a morganite for a loved one. This is my first gemstone. Do the 4C's matter here like they do with a diamond?

What do I look for?

How can I tell what is a medium quality vs a high quality morganite, assuming the same size? color? cut grade? does clarity matter here?

Like diamonds, CS has several Cs to consider, with colour being the top dog. However, not everyone goes for the top colour.

Morganite belongs to the beryl family so it's great for occasional wear or even daily as long as it is removed before doing rough work with your hands, such as laundry, dishes and working out. They are typically heated and colouration ranges from light to dark in hues of pink to orangish. They are typically eye clean and the standard for CS is eye clean. Due to the low RI, they tend to show tilt windowing easily.

With Morganite the colour saturation increases with size but this is a not a bad thing since Morganite price per carat is not high.
