Hi all....
I posted this in Rocky Talky, but thought this forum might get more action.
Long story short....I had a sapphire solitaire, I had it removed from its setting and reset into something fancier. Now I want the simple setting back. But with a twist. I'd like to have it set into a new basket...something with a hidden diamond or something else cool. So my question is this: can you remove a basket from a band and pop in a new one and set the stone in it? Am I making any sense?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome! I would say that is possible, but not necessarily the best way to do it. You probably would do as well selling the old setting as scrap and having a whole new ring made. It may not be worth trying to reuse the old shank.

(We have a good friend who is a mid-wife and she has quoted the same person you quote in your tagline! Our older, married daughter delivered both her babies with a wonderful mid-wife and it was a great experience both times!)
