My niece''s E-W Marquise E-Ring...

My niece just got engaged and she came over today with the ring. I set her up with my local guy and she looked at stones there and gave him some idea of what kind of setting she wanted. Then her boyfriend picked out the final details and the stone. It was custom made by Copernicus Jeweler here in St. Louis.

The marquise is .91, F color and (I think) VS2 clarity. The side stones are 1 pointers, I believe, but I''m not sure. It''s 14k white gold.

Any yellow you see is because I took the photos under a yellow lamp...oops.

I think it''s very different and beautiful!

The ring is probably a Size 5...She needs to have it sized down to a 4.5 or so.

Thanks Matada! Yes, she is thrilled and loves the ring.

She''s cute...The ring is too big on her so she just wears it on her right hand.

Thank you all for your compliments...I''ll pass them on to my niece!

They asked my little niece and nephew (her cousins) to be the flower girl and ring bearer. The kids are 3 and 4...will be 4 and 5 at the wedding. After they talked about it to the little ones and explained their jobs, my nephew told his mom, "I don''t want to do this. I can''t walk in a straight line and I don''t have a bear costume."

My advice is actually that she get sizing bars instead of resizing. I feel like she will lose some of the wow going down, the stones inset the way they are, AND when she has kids she won''t have to get it resized if she swells.

Ame, she''s going to wear it this summer and then get it sized down in the fall. I think they need to make it the right size. They made it too big. I''m not a fan of sizing balls unless you really have the "swelling in the summer" problem.

Its very pretty! And a new, unique way to set a marquise.. so its not like the many many marquise e-rings of the 80s and 90s.
