I''m thinking of three stones, but would like something a little different. More solid and modern in feel. I really like the look of this solitaire by Cartier and wondered if it would be possible (or advisable!) to turn it into a three stone.

Any one have any ideas? Here''s the pic:

I think it''s cool ... I love low set, modern settings like that. Jeff Cooper is another designer you might wanna check out... or Sholdt Design ...

Reminds me of this Claude Thibaudeau 3 stone. It was the inspiration for my 3 stone ring.

I must have another look at CT. I''m not sure if I love the straight bezel with a round. With a square stone they look...mmmmmmm.....yummmmmy!!!

Hi Angeline,

I like the Michael Bondanza ring- I saw it in person a few years back and it was beautiful.

I thought that you were getting a Leon 3-stone with sheilds, no?

Yanno ... I really dig the Michael Bondanza one *as is* ... the Cartier is nice but kinda boxier or something & the ridges look a little dated to me, you'd have to replicate those for the three stone too and - um ... i dunno.

#2 is SAH-weet. And a no-brainer. No custom nightmares etc etc ... Signed, sealed, delivered - it's YOURS!

You guys are tooo nice!! I appreciate your words and assistance so much. It''s really easy to over-analyze and worry the details to death! LOL!

Kasey - there have been a few *ahem* deviations since the Leon idea. I actually have a different center now and added the sides. Went through a feverish Van Craeynest period (whom I still loooove) but decided in the end that delicate just wasn''t me.

I think you are all right. Why mess with a good thing? I think I just expect it to be harder than this!

I find your thoughts on the Cartier idea interesting too Deco - good to hear.

Well on Friday Toppers here in SF should have it in for me to look at. Can''t wait!

Oh mi goodness!!! That''s amazing iwanna! You''re really good, I''d given up hope. I really appreciate the time you took to do this.

IT does look great...I''d settled on the Bondanza, then thought I''d save the cash for a sparkly band and just do a normal basket setting, but now I''m all confused again!

Thanks!

Thanks! I personally think cartier needs to steal the picture and come out with this 3 stone rendition...it is very modern, classy and timeless in my opinion!

Just an update: I went and looked at the Bondanza yesterday. I was disappointed !!! The ring design is gorgeous but the sides are SO angled it makes the overall effect appear smaller. I was looking at a 2ct center with 1ct sides and it didn''t cover my size 6 finger! I have looked at this combo in a basket setting where the sides weren''t so dramatically angled and it almost looked too much, and certainly covered my whole finger.

So I think the Bondanza is out. I want as much finger coverage as possible
