from what i can tell in the video the solasfera definately has more sparkle and fire than the standard cut then why is it that all of the ASET images of solasferas seem to look light they have more light leakage and obstructions ... more blue and less red? is it that these areas give the diamond more dimension and contrast? because to me it seems like standard princess seem to have alot more red in their ASET images. Id appreciate some help in understanding what exactly makes the solasfera a better cut than a standard princess, while we are on the subject are hearts and arrows princess cuts really that much better than regular or solasfera when it comes to sparkle and fire or is it just the "cool" factor of seeing the shapes within the diamond because the hearts and arrows also tend to basically be all blue in their ASET images where the arrows are?

the following are examples of solasfera

The ASET shows how bright the stone will be and the pattern of light return it has. It does not show how the light dances (aka scintillates). A diamond can be very bright without much sparkle. The solasfera is cut (I think) for more sparkly dancing light while maintaining brightness.

Princess cuts by nature do not have the fire, scintillation, or brilliance of round brilliants. Solasfera and Princess of Hearts were created to have the light performance of round brilliants in a square shape.

That said, ideal cut Princesses are lovely too.

I would personally prefer the princess of hearts (because I like the cut corners) and then the solasfera over a regular princess cut. White shows leakage on the ASET...red, blue, and green are fine. This shows what an excellent ASET looks like, and as you can see, it will show all the colors:

And definitely stick with the 1 ct.+ plan because these square cuts have smaller diameters than rounds (although total area may be similar due to the corners). I'd go with F-G VS1-VS2 to get the most size you can while still having high specs otherwise. I think you could go to H color on Princess of hearts because of the cut.

It's a matter of preference because it's a different facet patterning. As the person wearing the ring, you'll see that faceting difference and you'll have a preference for one over the other.

From across the room or beside you, the "sparkle" factor is different due to the faceting. The princess of hearts is definitely a different optic - it's a different kind of sparkle. The typical princess has more of the pretty splintery smaller sparkles of light (like tiny stars from far away) while the princess of hearts shoots out bigger flashes of fire - I've had both side by side to compare. Hubby calls my POH "ridiculously sparkly".
