I prefer the contemporary because I like the thinner band at the top and I am not a fan of knife-edge. |

Well, for the sake of presenting two viewpoints, I will say that since the original Tiffany setting has the knife edge, I'd go with that one. But if your gf is not familiar with the Tiffany ring, it really won't matter which you choose!

I think they are both very nice... just to throw my 2 cents in tho... i know a lot of people go with the 6 prong setting with round diamonds, but I have seen them set with 4 prongs and personally I feel like it makes you focus more on the diamond and isnt so "prongy"

I like the Contemporary Tiffany unless, like DiamondSeeker stated, she wants something close to the true Tiffany solitaire.

I like the knife edge, primarily b/c that is what is on the Tiffany version and I just adore the original!

I like the look of both - but I myself don't find knife-edge settings comfortable on my finger and so would not select a knife-edge for a ring meant to be worn every day.
