So I'm going to be proposing to my girlfriend on an upcoming trip in 3 months, so time is quickly closing in and I have been learning since the first of the year.
I have been searching and learning the rather involved process of fancy diamonds and their desired proportions https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/princess-cut-diamond.
I have been getting pretty hung up on the actual specs of the diamond, usually shooting for something in the Ideal - Higher on the fine cut columns from the posted link above. I'm not sure where I should draw the line at for these specs (table depth, table %, etc.) and still get a great diamond that looks great and has great light performance with a price I can afford.
The information she desires as follows:
- Square-Princess cut center stone
- white gold
- halo style
- Size 7 ring finger
- Wants a wedding band, but doesn't have to be attached. She may not wear both at all times, or would wear on another finger.
What I'm looking for:
- .75-1.5 Carat (What is a good size that would look nice, but not be too large and look gaudy?)
- D-H Color
- F-VS1 Clarity (Must be eye clean!)
- Ideal-Very Good cut
- Ideal-Very Good Symmetry
- Great Light Performance
Halo ring look:
- Small tightly set diamonds on the halo
- Not too tall when on the finger
- Rounded or cushion shaped halo
- Center diamond not set too far above the halo.
Here are some examples that I like and I think fall inline with what my future wife will love:

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagemen...ace-diamond-engagement-ring-by-vatche-256.htm - Except in princess cut
http://www.victorcanera.com/square-radiant-in-halo-with-double-row-shank.html Not as as antique looking, looking more of a cleaner modern look.
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...a-cushion-shaped-halo-please-post-pics.95901/ The most ideal ring I'm looking for, pic3 is the best.
Budget no more than $4000 (Problem with halos, from what I have found. $2500+ just the setting)
Thank you in advanced for any information and help I may receive. Oh, and I would much rather you pm me any links about a diamond since from what I understand, lurking and stealing diamonds is something that happens. I would hate to lose out on the prefect diamond.
