I'm looking for suggestions for a nice solitaire setting for a .50ct oval (set north to south). Budget for the setting is $300; either 14k yg or wg.
What are the options?

Thanks!!

Hi Dc20063,

If you bring in a stone and a setting to a jeweler, expect to pay $200-300 for them to set your stone (Stone setting is a highly skilled and difficult business)

I'm sure any local jeweler can supply you with a simple low-cost setting, But I'm not sure if it's likely to be below $350 + a reduced stone setting fee if you buy the mount from them.

Any PS vendor should also be able to help you find a nice mount, if you're willing to send your stone to them for setting.

James Allen has some nice low cost settings:

PSers have had success with low-cost mounts from Lord of Gem Rings as well, so you could contact them and see what they have that would fit your stone and budget. I'm sure they have access to more than they have listed :http://www.ebay.ca/itm/7x9mm-Oval-C..._Engagement_Ring_Settings&hash=item5b097418fa Most PSers request to pay extra to upgrade to a better quality of melee from LOGR, and are satisfied with the result.

Never used this vendor, but the picture sure looks pretty (buy buyer beware and all of that) You could make a best offer of $300:

Note that this is a risky option and my not turn out well.

Best of luck to you!

James Allen sells stuller. I'd ask them about this, maybe even 10k gold. Its thick like you said she likes, and I think set sideways is a flattering orientation for this size.

Or ask if they have any other stuller setting in your budget. They aren't refundable, but I do believe they will set them for you at JA.

Eta. Woops. Sorry I see it has to be n/s......go look at their other settings, and I'd strongly consider 10kk gold. Nothing wrong with it of it gets you the look you want in the budget you need.

What are the measurements of the oval? You can try eBay China sellers like Lord of Gem Rings or JewelryHoo - lots of reviews on them and quality. Do you want pave or no pave?

It cost me about $50-$100 to set a stone in a setting. Is that included in your budget?
