So what is the real story here: Finally got the IGI faxed certificate: Price $6600

Shape and cut: Oval Shape Brilliant Cut
measurments: 9.63X6.44x4.23
Weight: 1.75 ct.

Proportions:
depth: 65.7%
Table: 61 %
Girdle: Thick to extremely thick, Faceted (What does that mean?)
Cutlet: none

Finish

Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good

Clarity Grade SI2 ( I see 3 spots and feather on the drawing in the table of the diamond. )

Color Grade: Near colorless H

fluoresence: none

Girdle laser inscribed

Now that I finally got the info..this feels like a detective story...lol...in your opinion,
WHAT IS THE ROCK SOLID BOTTOM LINE ON THIS DIAMOND?

Thanks!

The deal with oval diamonds is that shallow ones can look amazing.
This one is on the deep side...

Bottom of that cert: this would probably be called 'I1' and a lower color grade by higher brow labs. The diamond is what it is regardless of 'paper', but the inflated grades may make it sound like a 'god deal' - or at least this is the idea as far as I can tell

That's allot of girdle! And yeah... maybe it makes this one be less large by a hair than other ovals of similar weight.

Sorry to Hear about the detective work. Shouldn't sellers' make it easy to appreciate their goods?

Given the IGI story, I might feel better about something like this:

Weight: 1.52cts
Size: 9.25x6.65x3.98 (about the same size!... despite the weight difference).
Lab report: GIA
Grades: H-VS2
Price: about $6500 listed by several sellers

Depth: 59.8
Table: 54
Girdle: thin-slightly thick , faceted
Symmetry: good
Polish: very good
Culet: none

Fluorescence: strong (ok... this needs to be seen, but you will find other fans of fluorescence around here.)
