Durability of fancy shapes

I''m in the market to to replace some cracked stones that were in my platinum e-ring. The original were a 1.5 ct. princess, and 2 half moons of .65 tcw.

Apparently I am hard on jewelry Jeweler was saying if I wanted to use the same setting, perhaps a cushion cut would be "safer" but not sure I care for the look of that. The Asscher cut is starting to grow on me though.

Are there some fancy shapes that are more prone to damage than others, or does it just depend on the type of setting? Jeweler also said rounds are safest but I am just not into them at all. Thanks!

Princess with thin girdles are doomed.
Radiants (I do not like colorless ones) and cut corner princess are saffer.
The half mons are ok if the girdle is a bit thicker and the points are not exposed.

You want to stay away from extremely thin girdles AND you want to make sure than any stone with a point is covered by prongs. Anything that sticks out, basically, is prone to damage unless it''s protected.
