I have just tried to get insurance cover for a ring in Australia through Chubb, and was told they won''t touch a ring under 20,000 Australian (about 14,500 US).

Is that the case in the US? What is the minimum valuue they will insure there?

Nope. I don't think there is a minimum here. Mines about 5200 or so and I have it covered and my promise band is roughly 500-600 and its covered as well.

ARe there no insurance companies in Australia of this nature? You might be able to get better rates that way...not to mention better coverage.

Not that I can find- the major companies here only offer house and contents, auto etc. I have not seen a seperate valuable articles policy offered here.

I want a ring specific insurance as I don't have renters insurance, and I will be travelling overseas for up to a year with my GF- and will propose over there.

BTW- does chubb have a time limit for overseas trips with the insurance?
