Hello everyone,

I was browsing EBAY today and noticed some striking "parrot green" diamonds that are a really fluro green and very sparkly. The description says they are treated with HPHT which I gather is some sort of high heat treatment which is permanent. I rather like the colour of these diamonds and apparently it's used to create other colours too.

Can anyone elighten me a bit more about this process? Do they have fluorescence?

What are the pros and cons of this - should I avoid these for any reason?

If not, where can I buy them? (apart from ebay)

High Pressure High Temperature.

Ask a reliable vendor to source for you?

I think it is also against forum policy to talk about treated stone. Maybe over at the man made diamonds forum?

The pros of HPHT diamonds are the price. You can get a great colorless or fancy colored diamond for a lower price than an untreated one. I have a yellow HPHT diamond, that is stunning in it's color. Strong saturation.

The cons of HPHT diamonds are also the price. You need to make sure that they are not priced equal to an equivalent untreated one.

I'm fine with HPHT diamonds if they are disclosed. The treatment is permanent.
