As of yesterday...I''m my own boss! Yep! I started my own business this week as a Marriage & Family Therapist....it''s been a hectic week converting all the charts to my own company rather than the company I was working under....but seeing the clients sign their checks over to me is quite exciting.

Well, according to Blod I am a "domestic engineer". Thanks for giving me a title! Seriously, I am a mom and wife and love every minute of it. Although the pay is not monetary, the report cards are a perk to me! And my hubby is Air Force, so when he makes rank, that is another perk! Thanks again for the title Blod. Mokey

I am a RDH-BS. (dental hygienist with a bachelor''s which means I could teach if I wanted to) I work part time around my kids'' school schedule for a general dentist in private practice. I''ve been in this profession for 20 years in June.

Pearcrazy, so did you have a BS before going through the RDH program? I am thinking about going back to school for that when we decide to have kids.

Right now, my job title is Internet Bum (aka I am unemployed and online all the time). That won't be too long because I am going in for a medical exam for a new job and when I pass, I will being work as a lab technician.

No, I got a BS degree when I graduated from the University of North Carolina. My diploma say BS in dental hygiene. I spent 4 years there and moved into the hygiene program at the dental school after my sophomore year. I don't know where you live but most states only require an associate degree to get your license. Here in NC there are several community colleges that offer a dental hygiene program. Depending on what kind of college courses you've had in the past you could finish in 2 years with some geneneral college or 3 years with no prerequesites. I could teach the curriculum at a CC with my bachelor's degree. That's what I meant by I could teach. I don't because I make more money in clinical practice.

So you have a BS in RDH. Yeah CA only required a AA for the license. I have a BS in Chemistry, so I was only thinking of getting an AA in RDH if I do get into it.

You should be able to do it in 2 years or less. I think with a BS in chemistry I might consider pharmacy. They make great money and are in high demand.

I''ve been thinking of becoming a "street pharmacist". Supposedly there''s lots of money in that, as well as bling-bling!

I''m a bookkeeper for an oil company (don''t hate me because of gas prices!!), and I do admin. stuff too. I get paid to nap and count on my fingers. I read 3 books a week because I get so bored. Until I found PS, now I can''t find time to read!

Pearcrazy - I prefer being a RDH as supposed to a pharmacist, maybe because most of my pharmacists have no personality and they look bored. It just doesn't look like a fun job. My college friend is in pharm school right now, and two of DH's cousins will be in pharm school next year. My friend is working her butt off with school and her externship at Kaiser. It always sounds like she dread going to work. Actually when I was growing up, I wanted to be dentist. I just wasn't sure if that would be as flexible as a RDH. Although DH rather me choose be a pharmacist than a dentist or a RDH. But I have some time to decide as I want to get some working experiences first.

ETA: jldunn - I've been suggested by one of DH's "bad" cousins to be a "street pharmacist/manufacturer". Definitely more bling bling, but ..... hahahaha

My name badge says "Wildlife Care Assistant". I volunteer one afternoon a week at a wildlife rescue center, the rest of the time I''m a stay at home housewife (no kids, married in my 40s).

In fact, today is my work day and I''m off out in ten minutes. One of our current patients is a mountain beaver with mange, bless him. We also get to see snowy owls, various seabirds, seals and the occasional bear.

I love my job, and would do it for no pay. Oh, hang on, that IS what I do
