I never read any of her books, but I found the obit shocking and depressing. It would never have been written about a man. We really haven't made that much progress.

the obit is degrading to this woman who was a meticulous researcher and wonderful writer.
admittedly, I did not read any of her works other than the entire series she did about Rome..............

Newspaper writing was notoriously chauvinistic and I thought the fake obits were a great example of the kind of dismissive rude treatment women used to get and still sometimes do! Colleen McCullough was a real Renaissance person, she got short shrift and I wonder if it was JEALOUSY on the part of the newspaper writers who are watching their medium die a quick death while McCullough made a very nice living from her books/medium.
