Kenny, I have several cookbooks that fit this description. One of my favorites is the Cutco cookbook from 1961.
This hardback cookbook came with Mom's set of Cutco knives. I have early memories of sitting in the kitchen under the old hood hair dryer with a towel on my shoulders after a bath. I was maybe 5 yrs. old. Mom would give me this cookbook to look at while my hair was drying. Classic 1960's food photography. Everything looked so bad. The best part were the center pages showing cuts of meat. Sweetbreads, kidneys and beef tongue just don't look good in black and white!
I saw this cookbook at a rummage sale and dove on it! I was all exited to get it home and look through it again. What memories.
Mom also used to have The Amy Vanderbilt Cookbook. When I was older, and attending art school. I realized that the illustrator for that book, Andrew Warhola, was quite a famous guy.
I am intrigued by the category "Gel-Cookery"
I would like to try the Liver Aspic Canapes, featured there, for my next dinner party.
I would serve them on iceberg lettuce leaves. Mmmmmmm-aspic!
