Color balance changes the overall mixture of colors in an image and is used for generalized color correction.”

Now if that is gobble gook too you I will show what it looks like when white balance is off and some pointers on how too set it.

In plain English the White Balance(WB) setting matches your camera too the type of lighting your shooting in.
The default is auto, which does a poor job sometimes figuring out what kind of lighting your shooting in if your not using a flash.

If so then you need too take control of your white balance settings.

Read your manual and find where in the menu it is located and set it too the type of lighting you are shooting in.
It doesn't hurt too try a few different settings to find the best one for an important picture.
Don’t forget to turn it back too auto when you are done.


note: All 3 were taken under the exact same lighting the only difference was the WB setting of the camera.
The middle image was auto as you can tell it missed.



note 2: Other tints are possible, blue and green are also very common when the Auto WB misses.
