Most of us don't live in the 'boonies"..JewelFreak|1391706968|3609282 said:We have had a well in the past 3 houses & I hope it continues in the next one. No water or sewer bills (septic too).
The town ran water lines last year but we chose not to hook up. Why pay?

Every bill the following "base" charges are added: water ($15.42), sewer ($19.29) & irrigation ($18.45), regardless of whether we use them (we had our irrigation turned off the last few months, it doesn't matter). So that's over $53/month, guaranteed.
We typically use 22000-23000 gallons per month (for the two of us and our pup), which is about $20 additional. There's usually a $10 sewer add-on with that too. So our bill is typically $80-ish per month.
Before we bought this house, we'd always lived in apartments in the NYC area and didn't pay water bills separately (it was added into the maintenance as a fixed monthly cost).

22,000 gallons a month? Wow! Actually I think I'm more impressed that you use that much water and your bill is so cheap. When we used 15k gallons our bill was $200 for water alone.

Ah OK so, my bad, we're not that wasteful! Our bill has a "multiplier" column of "10.00" in there so it says "Current 22250", "Previous 22220" but then at the end says "Usage 2390". So, duh, we actually use around 2400 gallons per month.
