if yes, how much are you paying for water each month?

Slightly over $100 every 3 months for a family of 4. I think it's something close to $39.30 / first 8,000 gallons used each quarter, then it is $4.90 each 1,000 gallons over the 8,000 gallon minimum for water up to 30,000 gallons. Sewer is also included in the same bill but I'm not sure what the breakdown is since the bill is lumped together.

We have had a well in the past 3 houses & I hope it continues in the next one. No water or sewer bills (septic too). Never had any problem with pressure or supply, even during 2 yrs of drought. In this house we installed a top of the line filtration/sanitizing system for $1200 -- pro-rates to $120/yr for the 10 yrs we've been here. Plus nominal amounts for filters & annual service check.

The town ran water lines last year but we chose not to hook up. Why pay?

Hi,

I pay $70.00 for 2 months. This includes sewer. There are 2 people in the household. We get our water from Lake michigan.

I am jealous of everyone's low water bills. We usually use 3,000 gallons a month and water and sewer combined come to $82.00 each month.

Normally around $50 to $60 a month (family of 6 with two dogs ), which is not too bad.
In the summer time it goes up as high as $400 for July and August due to the sprinklers and pool.

Yes we are. Months we run our sprinklers about $160, months we don't need to water about $60.

Our water/sewer/garbage is all on one bill. It went down when we got the new washer a couple years ago, but it's pretty high usually during the warmer months b/c we have to water. We did finally last year put in an outside meter, so most of what we water outside now comes from that and we don't have to pay for the sewer portion on that water, just for the water itself. During the drought last year we had a couple months of $300 bills. That sucked. And that *still* wasn't watering a lot really.

We are paying a water bill at our beach house and in the summer (we are mainly only there on weekends but water the lawn all week) our bill is about $120/month. It's just the 2 of us and 4 kitties but we do have a large amount of greenery to water and have automatic underground sprinklers that go on all week so majority of the water bill is due to that. I don't know what our bill is there the rest of the year but since we are hardly there and not watering the lawn I would guess pretty low. Now I'm curious so when my dh comes home I'll see if he knows.

It's right, I just looked at my bill the other day. We don't conserve in any way, we just use the water we need. I didn't realize it was that low of a number. I figured it was on the high side because we run the dishwasher and washing machine a lot. Now, when we have to run sprinklers it is a different story. Our bill got up to $200 for one month last August. EEK.

We stopped watering our lawn 6 months after we bought the house because the grass was so crappy it never absorbed any water. The sprinklers could run all day and it'd still be ugly. That, combined with CA's horrendous drought... we decided to conserve and just let the grass die. We only watered our fruit trees. Everything else is dead now and we're getting ready to go full desert/drought tolerant. Getting quotes to redo the entire front yard now!

Our bill is still about $30 a month for two people and 6 cats. I wish everything was self cleaning so we don't have to use any water at all.

There are only 2 of us in the house. We have a 2,000 gallon month every now and then. My parents have a high efficiency washer (we don't) and they often use only 2,000 gallons.

I'm with JewelFreak--this is our first home and we have a well and septic, so no bills.

Love it.

We had a concealed leak (more like a full burst pipe) under our driveway which you couldn't see or notice at all the water was under the driveway going into the ground. A massive couple of thousand dollar water bill later was not fun :((

My parents live out in the country and are tapped into an aquifer, lucky ducks. After we got married and started our landscaping, dad used to come into town and gripe because our stuff wasn't as green as theirs-I'm like HEY you want to pay our water bill? have at it mister!

We get a bill every 30 days. Every bill the following "base" charges are added: water ($15.42), sewer ($19.29) & irrigation ($18.45), regardless of whether we use them (we had our irrigation turned off the last few months, it doesn't matter). So that's over $53/month, guaranteed.

We typically use 22000-23000 gallons per month (for the two of us and our pup), which is about $20 additional. There's usually a $10 sewer add-on with that too. So our bill is typically $80-ish per month.

Before we bought this house, we'd always lived in apartments in the NYC area and didn't pay water bills separately (it was added into the maintenance as a fixed monthly cost).

22,000 gallons a month? Wow! Actually I think I'm more impressed that you use that much water and your bill is so cheap. When we used 15k gallons our bill was $200 for water alone.

Ah OK so, my bad, we're not that wasteful! Our bill has a "multiplier" column of "10.00" in there so it says "Current 22250", "Previous 22220" but then at the end says "Usage 2390". So, duh, we actually use around 2400 gallons per month. ;-)

Okay, heart attack over :) That makes much more sense. I was going to ask where you lived where water is that cheap.

Our bill is about $74 a month during the winter w/four people and a not very efficient washing machine.

It might be a bit higher in the summer except I don't really water our yard very often.
