I didn't use the flash on these pics, which may explain why the diamonds look a little dark. They seem to look a little darkish in direct sunlight (but very sparkly), and very bright and cheery under artificial lighting (and not as sparkly).
Oooh, just lovely! Darkish & sparkly is just how it is supposed to look in bright sunlight, so don't worry. I love the setting, as I am sure that your GF will think as well. Make sure to take more pics on her finger.
I'm quite the novice when it comes to photography skills. It's challenging to take a good photograph of the diamonds. I kind of enjoy the challenge, however.
Tips on how to take better pics would be appreciated.
DancinGirl, I read that you have been working with your Canon digicam. Have any tips to share?
I just folded up some Kleenex, threaded it through the ring, then placed the ring on top of a white box, which was on top of a white blanket. I turned the ISO all the way down (160 for me), and took the pic with macro turned on, the white balance set to incandescent (or outdoor) lighting, and a 2 second timer.
