Re: A thought about Hangout and how it used to be...

I see no difference between separating Politics from Hangout than I do from separating Colored Stones from Rocky Talky. If you don't, can you at least counter the arguments that I made? I don't go into colored stones Bc my interest is in diamonds. But if they were integrated, perhaps I would come u...

I see no difference between separating Politics from Hangout than I do from separating Colored Stones from Rocky Talky. There was formerly a Politics sub-forum here before the topic was banned. I am just suggesting it be reinstated now that political discussions have been allowed again.

Re: A thought about Hangout and how it used to be...

diamondseeker2006 , I only know you though reading your posts on PS, and you've always given me the impression of being a considerate, thoughtful, knowledgeable and respectful individual. You and others like you are why I've enjoyed PS so much. I would love to see more non-political threads in Hang...

Re: Help, need your opinions on these diamonds!

I will tell you now that I believe the quality of WF settings is also higher than James Allen. They have several awesome pave settings. But as far as James Allen goes, these are the other two best stones (and I think they are better than the 1.25 as far as cut goes). I actually like the measurements...

Re: Do the 12 point side stones overpower my 1.2 Ct solitare

That is totally a matter of individual taste. Your rings look very pretty! I will say that around here, many believe that a shank that is smaller makes the center stone stand out more or appear larger. But again, it's what you like best that matters!

Re: Diamond Stud Upgrade Advice Please

I am sorry but I do not consider the I color pair a good match. The Ascendancy stone is great. But the stones have tables of 55 and 60 which do not go together, in my opinion. I usually would not consider more than two percentage points difference in tables and prefer no more than 1 as I like the st...

A thought about Hangout and how it used to be...

I used to enjoy Hangout, but I rarely come here anymore because it is almost all politics. We used to have many interesting, lighthearted, and various other topics here, such as personal issues, etc., but they are mostly absent now. My wish would be that a Politics forum be reintroduced and have Hang...

Re: Custom jewelry in LA?

The cost depends on the size of your diamond and the exact details of your setting, but I would expect $4500+. Victor is wonderful and his quality is top notch in every way! I certainly consider him equal if not better than HW. My other top choice in the LA area for top quality pave is Maytal Hannah...

Re: Help, need your opinions on these diamonds!

That one has measurements within the parameters I posted, and it has the bonus of not being deep which makes it have an excellent diameter. F VS1 is very nice! No, there are no negative issues with clouds with VS1 grading. I'd keep it on the list to consider. This is a nicely cut stone, but it is no...

Re: How loose do you wear your tennis bracelet?

Oh, I'd definitely take it off to sleep and shower. Not to do so adds wear to the entire bracelet, just not the clasp. I'd keep the whole bracelet in great condition and later replace the clasp if it wears out. My wrist is 6" and my tennis bracelet is 7". It will hang down on my hand a lit...

Re: I vs H, video, and white gold vs platinum?

I can definitely see the tint in the I color stone, but I can definitely see it is larger, as well. If you think she'll value greater size over higher color, I'd go for it!

Platinum is always my top choice for white metals.

Re: Buying insurance TODAY - Jewelers Mutual?

Those of you that have insured with Chubb, JM, or Lavalier - what do your respective policies say about insurance while the jewelry is at a repair shop? Does your insurance cover that, since technically it's out of your hands/sight? I can't speak to a repair specifically, but mine is covered when n...

Re: Buying diamonds blind - do you?

No, I would not buy blind when there are vendors that carry top cut diamonds with all the info and images to make a very confident purchase...Whiteflash, Good Old Gold, High Performance Diamonds, and Victor Canera are my first choices.

Re: Terrified Oval buyer...input needed

Yellow gold is fine if that is what she wears most. Good planning on that! That's a modern oval diamond and they don't have as good light performance as rounds, for example. But I do think an oval works well with side pears.

Re: Help, need your opinions on these diamonds!

Cut is the number one factor in a diamond's beauty. I'd far rather have a G color stone that was a great cut than D-F that's not so great. VS1 is totally clean, so it's really overkill to pay for higher clarity than that. These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA exce...

Re: Help! Calling on PS expertise and advice

I personally wouldn't want a a full eternity at 4+ cts. I'd far rather have a 5 stone ring with .40 rounds for a total of 2 cts. An eternity that size will be kind of bulky, I think. But this is about what YOU want. Do NOT do it unless you REALLY want a large eternity regardless of price. You are ri...
