Re: Merry Holiday Asscher

Oh ny goodness, that is your "travel" diamond!?

One, it is beautiful. It is so elegant, and the setting is perfect!

Two, if that was my travel ring...I'd still have to get another travel ring for traveling... :cheeky:

Re: Can my ring be repaired?

I hope it looks as good as new! I do think given it is Blue Nile's own setting they can make it right. I had a similar experience this summer. A local bench, that I have had good experiences with in past, really messed up on a resizing of my antique platinum ring. The once strong shank was now super...

Re: Feedback on these OECs, please?

This vendor is the same vendor as mydiamondzone on ebay. They often cross-list items, so you can compare the prices on stones you do like, as sometimes I find they are a little cheaper on ebay versus etsy, and vice versa (I am sure it has to do with fees, etc). I know a few people who have bought st...

Re: What value is "worth" insuring?

In deciding to insure a piece I look at whether, if I lost or damaged that piece, I would: 1. Want to replace it; and 2. Be able to easily replace it (and/or want to) from my own funds (self-insuring). If the answer to 1 is Yes, and 2 is No, then I insure. If the answer to 1 and 2 is both Yes, then ...

Re: Do you care about rings being tainted by divorce, etc?

Nope, I do not at all. I don't believe in ju-ju or that "bad" things can stick to objects. Actually, one of the things I love about my antique or vintage pieces (or even just buying some things secondhand) is the mystery - I have no idea what happened to their owners, their marriages, good...

Re: Kim K robbed in her Paris hotel room

I would hope it was insured--but a lot of people will have insurance fraud on their minds. I wonder if they insured for actual replacement value or used an over-inflated appraisal.:twirl: My guess is ransom or fraud. Re: Stressful situation, return JA ring , get Bluenile need h

I prefer the James Allen one, significantly. I do not like when the stone is set high out of the halo like in the Blue Nile one. It looks awkward and like someone is trying to cram the wrong sized stone into a setting (which to me also reflects a "cheaper" setting). It also means the stone...

Re: So I got the cluster ring

Well, I LOVE it. I think the proportions are perfect for a cluster ring. I also love the setting with the bezeled centre and "cupped" halo stones (but I may be biased!) It is beautiful. My antique cluster probably has more the proportions you are looking for - 6.7-7.2mm centre and 3.4-3.5m...

Re: Jewelers Mutual vs. Homeowners for erings over 2.5 ct

I have made a JM claim before. It was for a loss. I had an idea of where I lost it, but not exactly how, so it was one of those mysterious loss situations. I can't say enough great things about JM. Not only do they cover of course added items, but they have extensions for newly acquired items, cover...

Re: Stack/Multiple Ring Sizing

Distracts: my fingers are same as yours - about 1/4 size smaller under knuckle. That is part of why I have the beads, so they go over a fatter knuckle but do not spin once over knuckle! But I know spin is less an issue with multiples (or less top heavy rings) so maybe my reg size that goes over knuc...

Re: Engagement ring insurance Canada

First question, is 17k the retail replacement value? My appraisal was 25k for retail replacement value, but I knew the insurance company would never pay that, so I asked the appraiser to provide what it realistically would be replaced for, which was 11k. I use jewellers mutual, I'm in Canada. yes p...

Oh thank you soxfan! When I saw it on JbG I just felt like it needed to come home to me, even though it is far flashier than my general personal style. I became used to it quickly and now I feel something is missing if I don't wear it! :twirl:

Re: Pinch me! I must be dreaming...Asscher SK Halo and AVCs

Beautiful! I looked at this ring a few times on JbG and I am happy to see it went to a PSer!

I think it looks perfect on its own, but I tend to prefer most rings on their own.

Your AVC band is looking stunning as well and right at home on your ring finger

I am bumping this as I cannot decide what to do.
