Hi

Do you think there is going to be noticeable difference between a .80 ct and .90 ct round brilliant? It is going to be set in a bezel along with two other round sidestones their total weight of the two round sidestones is .74ct.

Thanks for your help.

Are those exact stones weight or just a rough?

Depends on the cut. A badly cut 0.9c can look smaller, physically and optically, than a 0.8c well cut stone.

Get the exact diameter off the grading report and what are the diameters of the side stones?

Then get the ratio and compare to this image.

0.10 ct will be more noticeable in small stones and less noticeable in large stones.
IMHO at .8 to .9 ct it will be noticeable, but not dramatically.
Of course this is assuming everything else is equal like cut and spread.

How important that difference is is not black and white since each person will have different personal reaction to it.
Perhaps if you could find a way to draw two circles of the exact diameter of both side by side that may help you decide if the .9 ct is worth the extra money to you.

Re: Visual Difference between a .80 and .90 round brilliant

Dumb question, but how do I figure the Diameter out from the numbers listed on the GIA

For example if the measurements are 6.16-6.20 x3.85 mm, how do i figure it out?

Thanks

HI Cheri,
Can you ask the vendor to photograph the stones together?
I find that's a good way to visualize it.

The chart Stone posted is great- but there can be variations in diameter based on the cut of the individual stones.
More than that, the setting is going to make a big difference.
Are all three stones going to be bezel set, or only the center?

All 3 rounds will be bezel set, surronded by pave.

If you are bezel setting with pave halo, then save your money and get the smaller stone. Once set into a bezel with a halo there is NO WAY you would ever notice the difference between a .80 and a .90ct.

I agree with Dreamer, if you halo and bezel, you've already gained quite a bit of size.

Yap, definitely halo. You will not notice the difference.
