1. the greater the distance above the center of gravity and the weight of the setting all help keep the pendant from turning upside down, and if it does - then flipping it back again
e.g. the 3 prong setting that is popular has the chain joining at a great place - but the piece is very light one tick and one X
2. the bigger the diamond or the overall piece the better
3. the less rigid / more flexibleand lighter the chain the better
e.g. an open trace chain is better than a herringbone
