Hi everyone,

I’m hoping I can get some expert opinions and advice for an engagement ring purchase. I’ve evaluated both B&M and online stores and have decided to go the online route. My budget is in the range of $15,000-$20,000 range, and I’m looking for something at least 1.5 carats in size. While I’ve learned an incredible amount from reading, it’s a big enough purchase that I’d really appreciate expert opinions on a few stones that look good to me. I’ve tried to keep to the following specs:

1. Cut: Round, H&A, ideal symmetry and polish
2. Color: H+
3. Grade: VS1+

Here are a couple of stones my untrained eye is leaning toward.

Stone 1 (Whiteflash H&A, ACA):

1. Price: $15,749
2. Size: 1.581 ct
3. Color: H
4. Clarity: VS1
5. Depth: 61.9
6. Table: 56.3
7. Crown: 34.5
8. Pavillion: 40.7

Stone 2 (Whiteflash H&A, ACA):
1. Price: $18,236
2. Size: 1.552 ct
3. Color: G
4. Clarity: VS1
5. Depth: 61.3
6. Table: 56.6
7. Crown: 34.8
8. Pavillion: 40.7

Let me know your thoughts and thanks!

Sincerely,
Brian

Both stones that you have posted are ACAs, so you are already picking the best out of the best. I would personally prefer the H vs the G. Reality is that you probably would not see much of a difference between the two colors and the performance will be identical. I would put the difference toward an amazing setting. Do you know what you will be looking to purchase as a setting (style)?

Edit: The VS1 clarity is wonderful, but really not needed as long as the diamond is eye-clean. Dropping to VS2 or even SI1 (eye clean) is perfectly acceptable. In order to maximize budget, I would prefer a stone like this: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3766238.htm Or if you are going for a solitaire, then maybe even something like this:https: //www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3508615.htm

Thanks! My plan is to get a classic 4 prong setting in platinum.

Whoa...ditto SimoneD. You have picked two really gorgeous stones...put it in nice solitaire too! I also like the legato...

I would prefer the H stone...bigger and less money. The H will be very white in a Super Branded ACA.

Hi tyty333 :wavey: glad you liked my selections! I also like the Legato that you suggested! The Felicity looks lovely, too, but it is very thin indeed. The diamond will be pretty sizable and a slightly thicker shank would also help prevent it from spinning much.

juniorjam, same Q - what size does the lady have?

She's a size 5 3/4. I didn't realize the Felicity mount was so thin. I went ahead and bit the bullet and got the "H" stone with the Legato Sleek Line mount. What a wonderful suggestion!

Thanks for your help! I'm super excited to see it in person!
