NESW settings, any problems??

Hi All,

I am considering having the birks NESW solitaire setting replicated by my jeweller and i am wondering if any one has had problems with the prongs?? I LOVE this look and have wanted this setting for ages but a few people i have shown it to have concerns about the prongs being damaged and the diamond falling out (i plan to take out insurance). I would be looking to put a .70ct - 1ct RB as the centre stone. Does anyone else have this setting and has anyone had problems with the prongs???

not a problem, about the same probability of prongs damage and stone falling out as any other 4 prongs, if both are well constructed. It is actually safer for the stone, chip prevention, if mounted this way.
