Hi EBay sleuths,

A dear friend of mine is going to get engaged, and I know nothing about MRBs except how to put in #s for an HCA! I contacted teobdl for his preloved stone, and unfortunately, it sold.

We would love the stone to be as close to 1ct as possible, with ~0.85 being the minimum.
Colorless to near colorless H
GIA or AGS certed
Eyeclean and structurally safe

I know we can always contact Yekutiel at IDJ but I was hoping to find something preloved for a discount for the young new couple.

TIA!

Thanks Niel! I contacted the seller for more info in that SI1 grading.. I don't know if it's bc I'm on a phone (no wifi for months now ;( ) and I can't see the report's inclusions plot? I hope it's eyeclean, and doesn't affect brilliance!

Said clouds not shown, so maybe that's why. But, they have good returns, so worse case scenario.

OP, be VERY careful dealing with this seller. I've traded messages with him about another diamond, he was dodgy and condescending. And what a coincidence that he couldn't take pics of the diamond when requested to. Hmmmmmm :nono:

You also want to read his fine print, he'll charge you for polishing the ring if you return it. Also, check out his reply to someone who left him a NEUTRAL feedback, "There is always 1 INCOMPETENT and ILLITERATE in the crowd. Congrats..you're it!"

He responded almost right away to me, and was quite condescending in his response as well.. I thought I was just being weird to feel that way. I asked for better zoomed in photos and instead, he defined clouds for me. I'd rather not deal with someone that won't comply with a request for images-- he could have at least said why he didn't provide photos!

Thanks for watching my back, A!

Thanks for watching my back, A!

He seems to only want to deal with people who don't know much about diamonds and will take his BS as gospel. Oh well, there's other stones out there.

And you're very welcome! :wavey:

Call and ask if any of these are eyeclean. And if they can get you ideascopes for them:

http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-5037710-0.91-carat-Round-diamond-G-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=5037710&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com It's a 60/60 so it will favor white light return, but that's fine. Trade off is fantastic spread. So... I like this one.

They will hopefully be able to provide an idealscope on a couple of those.

These will be eyeclean, so ask about them and see if an idealscope is possible:

I don't really recommend eBay for MRBs. I would not buy and MRB without a lab report from GIA/AGS, and most sellers with diamonds with those reports know what they have and what it's worth. Ithe only way to get a deal is a private sale from someone desperate, and that's risky -- like no returns etc.i think your friend would be better off buying consignment for an MRB.

Can you tell anything from an image of a diamond? I requested an Idealscope for one of B2C's diamonds, and was told the partner with the diamond doesn't own an IdealScope... So I got an image instead.

It's the first one you linked-- the 60/60.

It looks like it might have a little leakage. For a PSer it would not be a top of the line option. But it is better than 97% of what's out there so for a non-PSer it is certainly in an very good range.

Given the spread, and pricing... I think it's a possibility. Can they take it to an appraiser out there if they get it?

Charles Carmona and Patrick Davis are both semi-local to our area, but I'm hoping they don't need to go to another appraiser unless it's a 2nd hand purchase or something.

If they are happy with an above average but not perfect stone, I think it's a good deal for them. And they don't need an appraisal NOW. But they will need one after it is set, so you might as well take it lose there now, have them run an idealscope on it, then set and and take it back for the formal appraisal for the insurance. Patrick Davis is who I'd use, he's very budget friendly from what I understand.

I can tell that I''d run from a vendor who couldn't get me an IS, and go back to one of the stones recommended earlier.

Will your friends be upgrading in future? Some vendors have more restrictive upgrade policies than others. Your friend might need to compare policies before he decides on the recommended diamonds/vendor.
