Hello,
I am looking at trading in a smaller diamond and came across a very nice looking stone that is graded Very Good Cut by GIA, but passes the HCA with a score of 0.9. I am wondering based on the numbers why it is graded GIA Very Good instead of Excellent Cut?
Here are the stats on the stone:
Table 54%
Depth 62.4%
Crown Angle 34.5
Pavilion Angle 40.6
Crown Height 16%
Pavilion Depth 42.5%
Star Length 55%
LGF 75%
Girdle Slightly Thick to Thick Faceted 4%
Excellent Polish & Symmetry
Medium Blue Fluorescence
I wouldn't typically look at a Very Good cut, but was searching for stones based on some recommended numbers and this one popped up. Is it worth considering even thought it's not graded Excellent cut, but does pass the HCA with a 0.9?
Any input would be very much appreciated.
