Hello 
I have found a ring belonging to either my Austrian father or Austrian grandfather in a bag that has not been opened since 1964. The stone looks to be a ruby. The ring is gold. I can't tell what era it may be from or whether it looks valuable. It is most likely from Austria or a neighbouring country but maybe it's Australian? I would like to remodel it but am interested in opinions. I am curious as to it's possible origins.
The cut out behind the stone is an unusual shape and it has markings I can't distinguish inside the band.
Any ideas?
