I'm proposing next week...proposal before or after dinner?

Hi peeps!

I am proposing next weekend. My idea is to have a nice relaxing dinner and some wine, and when desert comes to have the waiter say "come with me, we have a special desert prepared for you at a table outside..." and he/she will lead us to a nice lawn overlooking the ocean, with a tablet set for two, rose petals all around the table, candles and 2 glasses of champagne on the table...

When he/she escorts us there, I will immediately begin to propose as my SO will obviously know what is happening, and this way we have a more private intimate moment than inside the restaurant and we can enjoy our celebratory champagne to the sound of the waves...

Or should I propose before dinner on the same lawn overlooking the ocean (beautiful venue right on the beach) around sunset and then enjoy a nice dinner together afterward?

I like the idea of eating dinner first and then being led out for the desert/proposal after

After dinner is a great idea - if you do it before or during dinner, don't plan on eating too much!! The dessert idea is a great idea and quite romantic. Wishing you all of the best. Any pics of the ring? Congratulations.

I made dinner reservations for 6, as sunset is at 7:53. I figure that gives us time to have dinner and I can propose right at sunset.

I don't have pictures of the ring yet, but I will post when I do!

It's a rectangular 1.20l/w cushion cut, 2.6ct, excellent cut, G color, VS2 with 2 very small inclusions but completely eye clean. It will have a good sized halo around it on a tiffany novo style band.

Her dad is a diamond dealer by trade so he custom made the ring.

I am beyond excited, I just want to make sure it's perfect

Relax!! It will be perfect. The main thing is to give her a "story" to tell her friends and family now and for years to come. As long as it's romantic - I still tell my story 28 years later! My nephew is proposing next Friday and he's nervous too! I gave him the same advise. I'm excited for you too!
