Thank you. The emphasis goes on the "old". Dancing Fire has been referring to me, quite inaccurately, as, "Mother Teresa" for some time now so I already got a mention-although not a very complimentary one- in this thread.

I saw it, Monnie, and was very excited by it! Thank you so much for posting that lovely charm bracelet. It is beautiful to look at but also beautiful to read about. Your sentiments about your (paternal) grandmother are eloquently expressed and I was touched at the notion that your "refurbishing" the bracelet might wipe away the wear your grandmother had put on it by by using it during her lifetime.

Thank you, Deb. I'm so glad PS exists so that I could share her lovely bracelet with those appreciative of such things. As I said in that thread, my grandma would be tickled that I shared it here for others' enjoyment.

Literally. When I did my first search for diamonds on the internet I was using a dial up and even small pictures could take several minutes to load. There were fewer than 100 pages about diamonds.

I started working on my first web site, a year or two later and now we had a few thousand pages about diamonds, but the Internet was about to go "commerce legal" instead of researchers and college students only. Fierce complaining from the then current users as "The Internet was NEVER meant for commerce, you will ruin it for all of us!"

Little did they know how quickly it would change. Now there are millions of pages on diamonds, many of them full of misinformation, but fortunately, Yes, Virginia, there is a Pricescope! (Only some of my fellow oldies are likely to have a clue what that particular literary reference was about.)

There are far too many old friends here for me to dare to mention for fear of missing one that I should not, but you, my friend are definitely one of them. I can not begin to tell you how it pleases me that you remember me from before the dawn of time.

I have been a member since 2009, but hardly ever post anymore. I stop by to visit ever once in a while and truly miss the lively discussions we once had. I have sold much of my jewelry at auction, holding on to only a few key pieces that I always wear and giving my DD her pick first. I have contemplated buying perhaps one more key piece perhaps, but am not sure. I am just downsizing a lot these days in anticipation of my DH's retirement in a few years.

I find that conversations move too fast for me here... I would comment and then forget to come back for the rest of the conversation. Seems silly, but I like being on the sidelines. I love reading what everyone has to say and I have learned a lot from my years of lurking. It's also hard to push yourself into being another regular... I think that might just take up too much of my time.
