I just purchased this ring mount, which I had been watching for a long time.

However, I want it to fit my (new) OEC light yellow diamond, which is quite a bit larger (1mm in width and length) than the diamond that was in it. Therefore, the platinum semi-bezel will have to be redone. Any advice on how to do this? I know it is risky, but I got a really good price on the ring sans original diamond, and I feel ready to accept the risk. If it is absolutely impossible, I will put another stone in the ring -- perhaps a spessarite.

btw: does anyone know what style this is? I haven't seen a ring quite like this before, especially with the squared shank.

UPDATE

So I did some research, and it turns out this may not be a vintage ring at all. I think it may be by Varna, but resized so there is no stamp. I found a ring that looks very much like it at the Varna website, and I know they do custom work.

I still love the style, and I still got a very good deal on it. Perhaps Varna can retro-fit it.

Sorry you didn't get a reply. Try posting about settings or stones in Rocky Talky next time because so few people come to this section of the forum.

Did you find out anything from Varna? I would think the entire head would have to be replaced. Bezels are going to be the worst about fitting a stone that is too large or too small. I'd be interested to hear what they told you.
