Favorite size at ~.75ct?

I don't have anything in the works, but just thinking about some future possibilities, but want to get opinions. If you were looking to purchase a diamond, probably .75cts what shape would you choose? The budget would probably be about $3500. I already have a round, and am not fond of marquis, princess or pear cuts. Ovals are okay, but would not be a first choice. I love the look of asschers but I think at this size it's probably not worth it, especially since they face up small anyway. I have to say that I do really like cushions, but how do they face up? Assume that the stone would be set as a solitaire ring, not a fancy setting.

I am intrigued by the older cuts, but I don't know the first thing about them, and different types. Is there a good educational site somewhere? Would .75ct be large enough to enjoy the faceting of that cut?
